1.In an effort to become an arbitration center of international trade, Hong Kong revised the "Arbitration Ordinance" in 1982. The new ordinance, through reforming the British judicial review system, has made the arbitration in Hong Kong more attractive.
香港在力争成为国际贸易仲裁中心的背景下,于1982年制定了新的《仲裁法例》(Arbitration Ordinance). 新的《仲裁法例》主要对英国的那套司法审查制度(judicial review system)进行改革,从而使香港的仲裁更具有吸引力.

3.Hong Kong has six main laws to control pollution. They are the Waste Disposal Ordinance, the Water Pollution Control Ordinance, the Air Pollution Control Ordinance, the Noise Control Ordinance, the Ozone Layer Protection Ordinance and the Dumping At Sea Ordinance.
本港主要有6条管制污染的法例，即《废物处置条例》、《水污染管制条例》、《空气污染管制条例》、《噪音管制条例》、《保护臭氧层条例》及《海上倾倒物料条例》。

5.This ordinance makes miscellaneous amendments to the Patents Ordinance and the Registered Designs Ordinance.

6.The commission is tasked to oversee the implementation of the Sex Discrimination Ordinance, the Disability Discrimination Ordinance and the Family Status Discrimination Ordinance. The functions of the commission include handling complaints, encouraging conciliation between parties in dispute, providing assistance to aggrieved persons, and undertaking public education and research programmes to promote equal opportunities in the community.
委员会致力于监察《性别歧视条例》、《残疾歧视条例》和《家庭岗位歧视条例》的施行情况，职能包括处理投诉、协助调解纠纷、为受屈人士提供协助，以及举办各种推广平等机会概念的教育活动和研究计划。
7.The administration therefore decided to introduce interim measures, pending further study on the various issues relating to the comprehensive overhaul of the Ordinance, to shorten the existing statutory plan-making process. This proposed change received widespread support during the consultation. The Town Planning (Amendment) Ordinance 1998 which imposed a statutory nine-month period within which objections to the statutory plans should be considered was subsequently introduced into the legislature in March 1998 and came into operation in April 1998. The administration is continuing to review the rest of the Ordinance and aims at introducing a comprehensive bill.

8.Overseeing the implementation of the Sex Discrimination Ordinance, the Disability Discrimination Ordinance and the Family Status Discrimination Ordinance, the commission works towards the elimination of discrimination on the grounds of gender, disability and family status and promotes equality of opportunities between women and men, between persons with and without a disability and irrespective of family status.
委员会负责监察《性别歧视条例》、《残疾歧视条例》及《家庭岗位歧视条例》的施行。委员会也致力消除基于性别、残疾及家庭岗位的歧视，并提倡人人享有平等机会，无分性别、伤健及家庭岗位。
9.The Operations Department receives and investigates reports of suspected corruption under the Prevention of Bribery Ordinance, election malpractices under the Corrupt and Illegal Practices Ordinance, and corruption-related offences under the ICAC Ordinance.

10.It also administers and enforces several other ordinances including the Trustee Ordinance, insofar as it relates to trust companies, the Registered Trustees Incorporation Ordinance and the Limited Partnerships Ordinance.
