1.Methods: Serum levels of S-100 protein were examined in SLE patients using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Patients were grouped as inactive SLE (ISLE) (n = 6), active SLE without unequivocal neurologic manifestation (ASLE) (n = 20), or active SLE with unequivocal neurologic or psychiatric manifestation (NPSLE) (n = 5). As control 10 healthy people were also recruited.
